If you have never witnessed a Blade Battle, it ain’t nothing like the scene from the Roller Rink in @strangerthingstv season 4, except maybe when El/ Eleven/ Jane confronts Angela…. ok, ok I’m joking about that. BUT I’m deadly serious when I say the level of skating is phenomenal.

The Great Southern Slam (TGSS): June 11th – 13 2022

This year roller derby teams from all over Australia and New Zealand will descend upon the Adelaide Showgrounds for their chance at glory!

There will be 30 teams across three divisions competing over three days. The schedule is jammed pack full of 40+ bouts that are guaranteed to be action packed, check out the schedule & event info HERE.

Spectators be sure to grab your tickets before you go, there are presale passes up for grabs so get in fast and don’t miss out.

Skaters, Need any gear before you go? Resident derby expert Kat made a list of things to take to TGSS, read about it HERE. Check out our range of skates and protective gear HERE or come by our store and we will make sure you’re ready to hit the track. There will be a bunch of stalls at the event so if you do need anything on the day Atom & Bont Australia will be able to help you out!

There are going to be lots & lots of skaters rolling around but make sure to keep an eye out for our awesome team riders Pavey & Lauren Foote.

Camp Skate Riedell: March 7th - March 9th 2020

Camp Riedell has a limited number of tickets, so get in quick! Tickets are available HERE. This Roller Derby camp will be held at PGL Campaspe Downs, Kyneton, Victoria.

According to the organsiers, this camp is reminiscent of school camp with an important difference, a focus on “roller derby goodiness!”

Here is what the organisers have to say about the event.

“Camp Skate Riedell .. a three day event taking you back to your school camp years, except, there is one difference ... it will be filled with roller derby goodiness!

We will have International & Australian derby coaches, seminars and other activities like flying fox, aeroball, roller disco, scrimmages and lots more to keep you entertained over the weekend!

If you want to further develop your skills, meet new people and overall have a fun weekend with other like-minded people, Camp Skate is a MUST to attend.

Tassie Titles: March 7th 2020

The Tasmanian Inline Titles will be held at Rosny Skatepark, Rosny Park TAS 7018. 

This event includes categories Under 18s, Bladies, OG (Over 30 & Unsponsored), Open, Bowl Jam and Best Trick. This event is in collaboration with the Skate Park League in Tasmania, and the competitions are community based events focused on embracing skate park culture whilst bringing the community together. This competition begins at 10:30am, and the weekend itinerary includes sessions at famous Tassie skate spots, including the West Hobart Snake Bowl and Taroona Skate Park!

Shredageddon: April 11th 2020

This event will be held at RampFest Skatepark in Braybrook, Victoria, and is a public event hosted by CIB Melbourne, open to quad skaters. This will be the 5th instalment of Victoria’s annual quad skating meet up.

Attending the event will be coaches to help you conquer the park! This includes dropping in, carving, pumping and stance. This is the perfect place to give park skating a go, in an encouraging and safe environment, or get advice from experienced coaches on how to up your park skating game.

Brunz Blade Battle: May 2nd 2020


The NSW Inline Titles are to be hosted in Ballina this year, and marks the 4th year of the event, known as Blade Battle. More information on this event is coming soon! Check out the event page HERE for additional information!

May 2018:

We are proud to be supporting the NSW Inline Titles this year- hosted up in Brunswick heads northern NSW. here's what the organisers have to say about the event...


"On the 5th of May the NSW Titles will be held at Brunswick Heads skatepark. This will be the second annual Brunz Blade Battle.
There will be a Bowl and Park competition for Men, Bladies and Under 18s as well as best trick competition.
The Bowl is not the biggest, but it is fun and has awesome flow, you can see the edit for the Bowl competition from last year on VC Clothing YouTube page.
The Park competition lots of ledges, rails and hubbas, we will also be adding grind boxes with PVC copping and a custom box jump out of the park!
We will have cash, product and random prizes on the day up for grabs!"

April 2018:

The annual Slalom skating competition run by Seba Australia is on in Melbourne April 1st at noon. This is a fun event and is open to all ages and skating abilities! The famous egg and spoon race will be up first, then a Novice and Open Catagory in the Battle style slalom format. We're proud to present to you the 4th instalment of Victoria’s annual quad skating meet-up. 

This year promises to be the biggest, best and most badass Shredageddon since sliced bread.
We have both LOCAL and INTERNATIONAL coaches in attendance this year, yep you heard correctly, INTERNATIONAL! Meaning we're hauling CiB skate team member HAVOC over the Atlantic Ocean to the land down under and she plans to bring the ruckus!
Additional coaches include; Lady Trample (NZ), Fink (AUS), Wednesday (AUS), Nikita (AUS), plus jam skating with BabyCakes (AUS) and DangerAss (AUS) "

November 2017:

"The first Australian Rolling Open (Australian Championships for Inline Street/Park skating) to be held in QLD is going down on the 4th of November at Ramp Attak Indoor Skate Park 393 Bilsen Road, Geebung Queensland. 6pm till 11pm.
$1100+ CASH PRIZE POOL

ARO is the biggest competition of the year for the Australian rollerblading scene attracting Blader's from every state in Australia to its competition.
It has also had the pleasure of some of the world's best attend with legends like Shima and Julio compete. Joe Atkinson from England actually won the vert bowl competition last year.

The 2017 ARO will be taking on an extra exciting addition with live hip hop performances and DJ's running throughout the day.
The venue this year is an indoor skatepark in Brisbane called rampattak with a great arrangement of obstacles for the competing Blader's from the sponsored hammer hitters to the under 18's still progressing Blader's. Every level of blading will be seen on the day so save it in your calendars and come watch or even shred with the best Blader's in the Australia scene" - Gerard Ahrens (event organiser)

Catch our skatepark Team Riders in action, along with all the top skaters from around the state at The Park in Geelong for the Vic Titles. Even though this is a state championship event, it draws in a crowd from all round Australia to spectate and compete.

Round 2 of the Seba Slalom Series August 20th

This is a three round Slalom event series, to be held at Springers Leisure Centre.

 

Round 3 is on the 20th August from 12.00PM to 4.00pm.

Each event will include both Classic and Battle style events for Open Men, Open Woman and a Novice class, if entry numbers are sufficient. 

Entry fees will be $10.00 for each round or $25.00 for all three rounds. 

Trophies or Medals will be awarded to first 3 places in each class at each round plus an over all trophy for the series winner in each class.

SHRL presents Puckfest 2017 - August 26th

"SRHL Melbourne is hosting its biggest and baddest day to date: PUCKFEST An entire afternoon of hockey, tunes, food, booze, peeps and revelry. We’ve taken it up a notch this season and hired out a warehouse, set up a bar and MADE OUR OWN RINK. This is the kinda setup that dreams are made of.

Kicking off at 1 pm and powering through to 9 we shall witness the beauty of street roller hockey at its finest. Four games, including the grand final and plastic stick match will break the proverbial cherry of the official SRHL Melbourne rink. Running alongside will be non-stop tunes, ‘try to hockey’ setups, merch tables and inline skating related zones – as well as a well stocked bar and feasting truck.

Hockeyers, wannabe hockeyers, spectators, and absolutely everyone else are invited! So pull your mates together and join us for what is set to be the best afternoon of the year"

United Roller Derby Playoffs - Melbourne Showgrounds 

"Kingston City Rollers are proud to host the United Roller Derby Playoffs (URDP) for the third year running! This year, we see URDP expand with more teams ... in total, we have 16 teams! They will be competing at the Melbourne Showgrounds in two divisions. You will see strength, agility, amazing team work and ‘David and Goliath’ battles." 

This is a great event for spectators and is kid friendly, so bring the whole family to enjoy!

Seba Skates Australia is pleased to announce that they have partnered with Bayside Blades to support the Seba Slalom Series.

The Bruns Blade Battle - Saturday May 13th NSW

We are proud to support this Skatepark Blade event in NSW! Here's a message from the organisers about the competition.

"On the 13th of May will be the first annual Bruns Blade Battle at Brunswick Heads skatepark in the beautiful Byron shire, NSW. There will be a bowl competition, a park competition and a best trick prize will be awarded that can be done anywhere in the park on the day. Cash prizes for the first place getters!!!"

ASA Scooter National Championships - April 29th - 30th, Melbourne

The final event of the ASA (Australian Scooter Association) competition season ~ bringing together the best riders from Australasia to crown our new 2017 Champions!

LSC Skate Zone at Kid's Day Out 2017 - Melbourne Convention Centre 14th April

"Please join us on Good Friday, 14th April 2017 as Laverton Skate Centre returns with the city's largest ever pop-up roller rink! It's all happening at Good Friday Appeal's "Kid's Day Out" to raise much-needed funds for the Royal Children's Hospital!

**AVOID SKATE HIRE QUEUE BY BRINGING YOUR OWN SKATES OR BLADES**

Laverton Skate Centre volunteers everything required for this skate event, including our time. All proceeds raised is donated to the appeal on the day.

During multiple skate sessions held across the day, we will have a huge rink for serious skaters, plus a smaller rink for younger kids & beginner skaters. Expect a top variety of music for the day, skate games, slalom skate performances, junior roller sports demonstrations and more!

Entry to a session is minimum $5 donation (per session) to the appeal and for the record, we don't like giving change, because the kids need every dollar we can raise for them! Skating multiple sessions requires multiple donations."

Slalom / Freestyle Easter Battle - Sunday April 16th

Slalom skaters from far and wide descend upon Melbourne for the annual Easter Slalom Skating Battle, held outside the Melbourne Museum. This is a fun competition free to enter for all ages and levels of skaters. A big emphasis on participation with fun competitions like the 'egg and spoon race' as well as a Classic Skate Slalom Battle.

If you have ever wanted to give Slalom skating a go, this is a great event to come to!

World Freestyle Slalom Championships 18th to 21st November in Bangkok, Thailand

Neil and Andrea are heading out to this event with a team of skaters, who will be representing Australia in the Battle, Classic, and Speed Slalom divisions. We are proud to support this team of skaters in conjunction with Seba Skates Australia

Australian Rolling Open 26th November at Noble Park skatepark, Victoria

The Australian Inline Championships for skatepark skating are being held locally, and you'll see the Bayside Skate Team and some of our staff members out there on the day competing in the Street and Bowl competitions. Brad Watson and Hayden Golder are looking to back up their podium finish from last year with some more medals. Staff member Nick is competing this year in his first ever Australian Champs event. 

Congratulations to Bayside Team rider Brad Watson for taking 2nd place in the Bowl Contest.
